Day One – Tuesday 25th September
The adaptable city
brought to you by Future Cities Catapult
Over the past decade cities have rapidly grown to become the main habitat for people across the globe. At the same time urban footprints have grown at twice the speed of urban populations. However, while digital technologies have transformed the way that people live, work and play, built environment professionals are still reliant on 19th century governance and 20th century tools to tackle our 21st century urban problems.
With the Government’s ambitious housebuilding target and other major infrastructure investments planned for UK cities, as well as the trajectory of growth in many global cities, making the right decisions is more important than ever.
Day one of Cityx will explore how the decisions we make today will shape our cities for generations to come. Sessions will showcase how pioneering firms are capitalising on the digitisation of real estate and planning; how applied neuroscience is enabling more human-centric design choices – from workplaces to public spaces; and will look to the future of city modelling and management.
