Rafe Bertram

Founding contributor, InnerPlanet and a Public Practice Associate
Rafe is passionate about design that makes a difference to the world’s most pressing issues, enjoying collaborating with all stakeholders and specialists that contribute to a better environment for us all. He has just finished 18 amazing years at Foster+Partners, and now a founding contributor to InnerPlanet and a Public Practice Associate. InnerPlanet is a voluntary co-creation collective building a carbon tracker technology through open-source collaboration. We aim to empower individuals to change their behaviour for a more sustainable world, by together creating the 'fitbit for the environment'. Public Practice is a not-for-profit social enterprise with a mission to improve the quality and equality of everyday places by building the public sector’s capacity for proactive planning. Some of his recent projects at Foster+Partners have been smart sustainable cities, tents for the Red Cross, Apple Stores, new ultra-fast transport networks, prefabricated buildings, town centre regeneration and climate restorative living / working / making neighbourhoods. Always wanting to see issues with a wide perspective, Rafe is fascinated by future studies, ecosystem design, app development and the innovation process as a whole.
